The beagles are blooming... |

Late spring seems to be a very busy time for people who abandon their pets - be it at a shelter or a rural dirt road. We have beagles coming out of our ears and really, REALLY need some foster homes. On average we get 2-3 requests a day to either pull a dog from a shelter, take in a stray, or help an owner find a new home for their dog. We have at least three beagles waiting for foster space. We welcome all questions about fostering that you don't find answered on this site. Fostering is a wonderful way to test drive some dogs while saving more. Our satisfaction is greatest when we bring in a dog that needs some TLC and some training and we help her become an adoptable dog who finds a loving family to call her own.

This is Lucky. He was very lucky indeed to be spotted at the Rockland County animal control facility by a rescuer. That rescuer called a friend, who happened to be our friend who had rescued Jasper. She contacted us and told us there was a young, blind beagle in need of immediate help. Of course we said yes!
We were hoping we could get some interest in him locally, but it hasn't happened, so Lucky is going to be flying to Montana on Friday to go to Rolling Dog Ranch.

Anyone got some spare time? |

And I do mean time! As in, a few extra hours to add to the day. So many projects and so little time. It's very hard running a rescue organization while holding down a very busy full-time job and having a husband and friends and dogs of your own. We have WONDERFUL foster homes but we really need some more volunteers to help out with things like adoption follow-ups and fundraising and handling advertising, etc. All the things that make a successful business in other words.
