We love, love, LOVE our adopters. They are so special and every one of them make what we do worthwhile. For us it's not just about the dogs - it's about the people too. Dogs are only 50% of the equation.
We have adopters who have lost a beloved pet and want to fill some of the hole left behind by rescuing a dog in need. Some adopters are getting their own dog as an adult for the first time. We love when adopters want to get a companion for an existing pet; they realize the importance of their dog having a pal who really speaks her language.
We recently had an adoption that was definitely a match meant to be. The adopter wanted to write something for us to tell other people about her experience adopting from a rescue. We were very flattered and are happy to present her letter here for you. So please, read on...

We helped Bailey - our very senior shelter rescue - over the Rainbow Bridge this afternoon. We wish very much we could have helped her more, but there was too much neglect to overcome. We hope that she had a happy life until she landed at the shelter, and we are sure she'll have a very happy afterlife.
Bailey went very quickly and very quietly with people around her who loved her and who cried for her. It is never an easy decision to make, but in this case there was no doubt it was the kindest thing to do for this very sweet dog.

The call came when we were very full. A little female senior beagle was left at the shelter to be euthanized because she had thyroid disease. Our advice was to put her to sleep as soon as possible so she did not have to suffer the stress of being in a shelter.
Pity and hope stayed the needle and an open spot and a love of senior dogs broke us down and we took in Bailey.
