A few days ago Briggs had a very gunky eye. We were worried that he wouldn't be able to fly out to Montana so we dropped him off at the vet for a look see. The vet sent him home with some mild pain medication and some antibiotic ointment and a health certificate to fly.

Briggs has his first of many vet visits today. He got all his vaccinations done so he can fly and just a general check under the hood. Our vet does think he's got glaucoma. Rolling Dog Ranch will hook him up with an opthalmologist specialist to confirm that. The best news is that he is heartworm negative! Woo!

One really tough thing about being a blind dog - you can't see who wants to play with you. Briggs was a little confused as our beagle Della was doing her usual invitation to play this morning. Unfortunately Della doesn't give normal dog cues, which perhaps even a blind dog might pick up on. Instead she flings herself around and spins in circles. Even our big dogs who play together don't understand what she's doing.

First day with the crate |

Today was Briggs' first day left in the crate all day. We're always a bit anxious about this, but he did fine. He bays quite a bit when we leave, but he must settle down eventually or I'm sure someone would be calling someone!
