What does the adoption fee cover? E-mail
Thursday, 07 February 2008

Our adoption fee is $200. What's included in that fee:

  • The dog will be spayed/neutered
  • The dog will be current on all vaccines including bordatella
  • The dog will be parasite free including heartworm free
  • If the dog needed a dental cleaning it will have had a dental cleaning
  • If the dog is a senior dog it will have had a complete senior bloodwork panel done
  • Most dogs are crate trained and housebroken
  • All dogs now come with 3 months of Heartguard to get you started

We believe very strongly in handing off a dog that will not need to see a vet immediately. That means if we get a dog that limps, we'll get it x-rayed. We recently had a dog that need a bronchoscopy - we got it done. This is not just for your "protection", but also because these dogs deserve to have the same level of care and concern as our own pets. Our job is not just to get them out of a shelter and into a new home, but to have injuries examined and infected teeth pulled and funky ears cleaned out.

On a dog that doesn't need any extras, we spend about $180. Add on to that bloodwork, dentals, x-rays, specialist vets and some of our dogs are a bit pricey when you look at the bills. But every one of them is worth every dime. Just ask our adopters!
