A few days ago Briggs had a very gunky eye. We were worried that he wouldn't be able to fly out to Montana so we dropped him off at the vet for a look see. The vet sent him home with some mild pain medication and some antibiotic ointment and a health certificate to fly. 4am is always too early for the alarm, but it went off none the less. We got up and got all of Briggs' paperwork together. I marked his crate all over with "Blind Dog" and his name and the fact that he was a bit wobbly. I checked the weather in Salt Lake City, where he would have his layover, and it was about the same as Atlanta. Missoula, where he would be landing was a different story - 25F! So we not only put in a thick fleece crate pad into his kennel, but also a soft fleece blanket from IKEA. He wouldn't be on the tarmac very long, but we wanted him to be as comfortable as possible.
When we left he was barking up a storm - frustrated that he couldn't see what was going on. The people at Delta Dash Cargo were very nice and we're sure he'll be just fine.
You can keep up with his story now at Rolling Dog Ranch's website. I'm sure he'll have a blog entry over there very soon!
