Late spring seems to be a very busy time for people who abandon their pets - be it at a shelter or a rural dirt road. We have beagles coming out of our ears and really, REALLY need some foster homes. On average we get 2-3 requests a day to either pull a dog from a shelter, take in a stray, or help an owner find a new home for their dog. We have at least three beagles waiting for foster space. We welcome all questions about fostering that you don't find answered on this site. Fostering is a wonderful way to test drive some dogs while saving more. Our satisfaction is greatest when we bring in a dog that needs some TLC and some training and we help her become an adoptable dog who finds a loving family to call her own.
We are also in need of funds. We had a slow winter for adoptions and some extra operational expenses. Please consider making even a small donation - they do add up! We are looking at about $600 just in basic vet bills (spay/neutering, vaccinations, deworming, etc.) in the next couple of weeks.
We hope that some day we will have 5-6 foster homes and regular adoption turnovers so that we can say "yes" more often. It is so hard to look at a sweet beagle face peering out from a rural shelter kennel and know we have no room. Our goal with this rescue was never to save them all - no one can do that. We do want to save as many as we sanely can though, and can't do it without our foster homes.
Please make sure you tell your friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, fellow church goers about us. Beagles make wonderful family pets and great city dogs too!
If anyone would like some of our cards to hand out, please This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it . Just send us your mailing address and we'll drop some in the mail to you.
We would also like to hear of any pet boutiques near you that might be interested in fostering an adoption event.
