| Dog days of summer... |

We went on vacation for a week and I'd hoped that the fact that we had almost no access to email would mean we would get home and have lots of adoption applicatons. Sadly this was not so. Instead we had many requests for help in rehoming dogs. We are still catching up on getting those dogs listed, but one we wanted to let you know about right away.
Dottie is a 13 year old beagle who needs a comparatively minor surgery to remove a ruptured cyst (not disk) on her back. Unfortunately it is not minor to her owners who are experiencing financial hardship at the moment, as so many others are. They want what's best for their dog and are relieved that we will help them in whatever way we can.
We need your help though. As is usual during the summer adoptions have been almost non-existent and donations have been slim. Our special fund for needs just like this, Jake's Fund, is just about empty. We estimate that Dottie's total vet bill will be around $600. Three adoptions would take care of that, but Dottie can't wait for adoptions to pick back up.
We want to keep Dottie with her family for as long as we can. She may well end up needing a new home in the end, but our mission is not to help just the dogs but to help people. And this family needs our help. Please make a donation via our PayPal box at the top, or click on Jake's Fund for information on donating into that.
