Beagles LOVE squeaky toys! We have to supervise them when they get these because in no time the stuffing is flying and occasionally we've had a dog think the stuffing is a great toy too. Toys should cause happiness, not trips to the emergency vet.
We are HUGE fans of deer/elk antlers as chew toys for dogs. They are extremely durable, don't break into shards, and the dogs love them. Even our most dedicated chewer can't get through one. They are more expensive than other durable chews, but they pay for themselves in the long run with their durability. Dogs of all ages will take to these as well, making them perfect for a multi-age household.

Another really durably toy that we like is the Fat Cat, Inc. canvas toys. They are made from a very tightly woven nylon canvas with double stitching on the edtges. We have dogs that love to tug, and dogs that love tennis balls and these toys cover all bases.
Some of our beagles (Sally) are very into fetch. Add in the squeak and they will play all day, frequently getting the rest of the pack involved in a merry chase around the yard to see what's squeaking. Human tennis balls are not great for dogs so we always use balls made for dogs.
