Found a Stray Beagle?
By law we are not allowed to take in stray dogs. You may hold onto the dog while trying to find an owner, or you may take the dog to your local shelter.
There are three key things to do when you find a stray animal if you do not immediately take it to animal control:
- Take it to a veterinarian and have it scanned for a microchip - they will do this for free. Cats can be microchipped as well!
- Run a "found animal" advertisement in your local paper. These are usually free.
- Put up flyers in the area you found the pet and contact local pet stores, groomers, and veterinarians (and your local animal control) with information about the dog or cat.
If you find a stray Beagle, and cannot find the owner and are willing to foster INDEFINITELY then please fill out our foster application and we will work to get you into the program.
