What's all this green stuff?!

Atlanta Beagle Rescue got a very generous donation of green stuff (the kind that pays our bills) from Back By Popular Demand Consignment last weekend at their $1 sale.

This is a FANTASTIC store in Lilburn and you have got to check it out. They have womens, kids, teen, mens, housewares, you name it. They also have two cute kitties that someone left in their parking lot that are available for adoption. Stop by and show your support for a local business that supports us!

In other green news... You know spring has sprung in Atlanta when everything is covered with a lime green dust. That includes our patio and yard, and some of our dogs show a little more sensitivity than others to it. If you notice your dog itching, sneezing, or licking/chewing his or her feet, talk to your vet about seasonal allergies (that sounded just like a commercial, didn't it?). If it's just moderate we usually give Benedryl, but sometimes you need something a little more potent to give your pup some relief.

With the fast rising temperatures we want to remind everyone that your car may be cool in the a.m. but once that sun come out your car is going to be oven-like very quickly. If you are running errands that involve anything more than a drive-through, leave the dog at home. If you see a dog in a car without an owner try and find the owner. Even cracking the windows does nothing in direct sun. If you are unsuccessful in locating an owner, call the police. Many a person has had their car window broken by citizens or law enforcement to save a dog. That goes for children left in cars as well!

This website has some great information and you can download some handy fliers to keep with you to remind folks the dangers of leaving pets in cars.
